Quarterly Contest Guidelines

A feature for the Muse Messenger is the quarterly poetry contest. There is no entry fee, and there will be no cash prizes. However, the winner and the winning poem will published in the following quarter's Muse Messenger. By  entering a poem, the poet grants the Muse Messenger permission to publish the winning poem. All rights will be retained by the poet. There will be only one winner for each quarterly contest. Additional Guidelines are below.
  ● Contest judges are qualified poets, who are not a part of or associated in any way with ASPS.
  ● Quarterly contests are open only to current paid members of ASPS.
The contest is open to all members except the Muse Messenger Contest Chair
(Rita Moritz), who coordinates the contest and sends entries to the judges.

● Poems submitted must be unpublished and must not have won or placed in any other ASPS contest..

● Poets may enter only one poem for each quarterly contest.

● Poets may win only one Quarterly contest in a calendar year.

For example: If you have won a Muse Messenger contest in 2016, you may not enter
                                  another poem in a
Muse Messenger contest until the first quarter of 2017.

Poems submitted to subsequent contests after a win will be discarded.

● All poems (except Haiku or Tanka) must have a title.

● To allow time for judging, poems must be submitted only during the first two months of that contest quarter.
For example, for a third quarter [July, August, & September] of a calendar year, poems must be submitted
during July and August so judging can be conducted during that quarter's last month [September].

● Poems are to be included in the body of an email or an MS Word document attachment..

● The month and the contest subject (form, topic, etc) must be in the Subject Line of your email..

● Poems must be in Times New Roman 12-point font and without any accompanying graphics..

● Entries are to be submitted via Email to:
